National Fixed Wing Retrieval

National Patient Retrieval Service

Paediatric & Newborn Retrieval.

We are one of the most extensive aeromedical services in the country; we provide Level 1 and 2 inter-hospital transfers throughout NZ, and are privileged to hold contracts with Te Whatu Ora, Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) and the Ministry of Health (MoH), as well as undertaking domestic missions for private individuals, insurance companies, assistance companies and government agencies.
Our services can be adapted to meet your specific requirements, whether a lower acuity patient requires a non-urgent transfer or a critically ill patient requires immediate assistance.

As a national service appropriately resourced to provide virtually all clinical and transport needs, we offer reliable and professional support on a best-value basis.

When it is logistically and medically appropriate, there may be an option to cost save by scheduling patients on both the outward and return legs. This backload option can potentially reduce the cost per patient travelling significantly.

Transporting these patients safely requires highly skilled medical personnel with sophisticated equipment adapted to the aeromedical environment. We can provide rapid response throughout the South Pacific to infants or children needing urgent care.

Auckland is the national referral centre for patients requiring Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).

As part of this service, patients are retrieved from New Zealand and transported back to the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Auckland City Hospital or Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Starship Hospital on ECMO.
