NZAAS in conjunction with the Auckland District Health Board can supply an international paediatric and newborn retrieval service.

Transporting these patients safely requires highly skilled medical personnel with sophisticated equipment specifically adapted to the aeromedical environment. We can provide rapid response throughout the South Pacific to infants or children in need of urgent care.

Auckland is the national referral centre for patients requiring Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).

As part of this service patients are retrieved from around New Zealand and transported them back to Cardiothoracic and Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Auckland City Hospital or Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Starship Hospital on ECMO.
